John Woo and science fiction should stay away from each other at all times. Glad Metroid never happened.

You know, I did an English presentation about the mullet hair cut in college. It went over well, but somehow I managed to miss the mullet in Hard Target at the time. Perhaps if the presentation was about films where there are random strikes of extreme piano playing.

I can't seem to wrap my head around Phantom of the Opera and Metroid. Metroid? Really, John Woo?

And I'm a firm believer that Van Damme's mullet in Hard Target is the only one that looks genuinely fucking awesome. But then someone else attempts it and brings my opinion back down to reality.

MI2 surprised me a lot, actually, and not in a good way. I've always been an apologist for it, but I recently watched it for the first time in years. For some reason, I'm sort of in the other camp now. It just didn't hold up very well. There are really cool parts here and there, but overall it's kind of bad. Sad, but true for me.

And they way Danny Trejo appears in films, he'd jump to work with anyone! And I don't know, Woo himself doesn't like making sequels, but it still think it's not right for him. It's been a while, so I'd have to give it another chance.

And Woo does give everyone a sort of cool tone, but sometimes the idea of cool changes. That zoom in on Van Damme's earring in the beginning Hard Target comes to mind. Lots of laughter at the Mayfair when I saw that years ago.

A bit harsh on MI2 A.? Watched it in HD a few weeks ago and thoroughly enjoyed it's Wooness, not so keen on the Cruise but JW took the already incredible Thandie Newton into the stratosphere. You'd think every actor and actress on the planet would be desperate to work with him, he just has this knack of making every one look even better than they already are, hell he could even make Danny Trejo look like a matinee idol!
